SZA - She Hit Different

Midnight saw the return of one of R&B’s brightest stars SZA when she gave a surprise release of new single “Hit Different” ft. Ty Dolla $ign.

SZA hasn't been completely gone as she has made guest appearances with starts and label mates like Cardi B and Jayrock, but the fans haven't always gotten what they wanted as the St. Louis artist hasn't released solo music in over 3 years.

With SZA’s sophomore album and eventual successor to CTRL being a sure fire hit when it releases it hard to believe that there hasn't been any real movement on the project till wednesday.

According to her official Twitter page SZA released some frustrations as she detailed her relationship has “BEEN hostile” and that fans would need to “ask punch” TDE’s entertainment president  in regards to when a new album is coming.

It seems that SZA’s wishes have been fulfilled and she didn't miss.

The track itself is commonplace for SZA, as she once again details the ends and out of a fictional open relationship. With lyrics like “Like it's cool when you pull up boo'd up with a new band and it's not me” it's clear that SZA composed this ballad from a place of longing to be with someone you can't.

Sonically, SZA is accompanied by a surprising instrumental from The Neptunes, the production group manned by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. The lethargic style works here in  SZA and Dolla $ign favor allowing  breathability and space, for different pockets to operate out of.

While we still have no confirmation of a follow up to her 2017 cult classic, “Hit Different” is a good start to get the media train moving. Stream SZA new single on all DSPs now.
