Further solidifying their new release of Savage Mode II ,21 Savage and Metro Boomin have also decided to give fans a bonus release of visual aid for the first cut off the new project “Runnin”
Earlier this year 21 Savage won his first grammy when his collaboration with fellow mc J. Cole on his 2018 effort I Am > I Was for best rap song. This past August seen Savage and longtime producer and friend Metro Boomin accompany him in bringing the award back to their native home of Atlanta Georgia for all to see.
It almost feels like they picked right back up where they left off with their first go round. 21 starts his verse with “Called the first one Savage Mode, my mood, that's what it was (21)/ 2016, we was ridin' around, beatin' niggas up in the club.” The passing of the grammy isn't just for show but it symbolizes something much greater. Without directly stating it, the award shows those the children, the edlerly, the 9-5 workers, and the dancers alike that anything is possible no matter the circumstances.
Lyrically from Savage, we get the vintage 21 that is coming to talk his on the track. Not shying away from anything. BBLs, car habits, and alleged inside jobs are all throughout the record.
Metro Boomin really comes correct on this record as he chose to adopt a short and sweet sample of legend Diana Ross’s “I Thought It Took A Little Time.”Being that we only get sporadic releases now from Metro it makes the work he chooses to put out even more rare in a sense.
Even making an appearance for the shoot, it showed the genuine love between both artists. Savage and Metro have had a working relationship dating back to 2015 with tapes like Savage Mode I coming later in 2016.
With the follow up coming more than 4 years later, fans can now rejoice as 21 and Metro Boomin have properly stamped the “Savage Mode” series with a 15 track filled with the best of both worlds. Stream Savage Mode II on all platforms and watch their new video for “Runnin” on YouTube now.
